Orange Hard Sauce

"In our house, this accompanied Steamed Pudding"

Orange Hard Sauce

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup Butter softened or Margarine

  • Zest of one orange and juice

  • 5 cups of icing sugar (adjust for firmness)

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla.


DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix well and shape it into a cone.

  2. Decorate with holly.


In our house this accompanied steamed pudding (below).


Steamed Pudding

  • 4 grated large carrots

  • 1/2 cup rice or plain flour

  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 cup sugar or raisins

  • 1 egg


Mix all ingredients. If not moist enough add as much apple sauce as needed.

Place in a buttered bowl.

Cover with foil and steam for three hours.
